Sculpture in the Park: an insider's guide

Every second weekend of August, Benson Sculpture Garden hosts the largest outdoor juried sculpture show and sale in the United States. In 2026 it's the 42nd annual show. Here's what the ticket page won't tell you.

Insider Tips

How to actually enjoy it

Show up at opening. The 9:30 a.m. opening hour is cooler and noticeably quieter than midday — you'll get better sightlines and shorter waits at the popular pieces.

Consider the Friday Patron Party. The $100 preview ticket gets you into the garden before the general public weekend crowds, on Friday from 3–8 p.m. Patron Party tickets tend to sell out early, so buy ahead if you want first access.

Use the shuttle. Paid parking ($5) is available at Loveland High School East, but the free shuttle from Orchards Shopping Center or King of Glory Church drops you right at the gates and skips the parking-lot walk. Shuttles run 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Sunday. Note: children under 5 can't ride the shuttle due to federal regulations, so plan accordingly if you're bringing a stroller-age kid.

Dress for a Colorado August. Mornings can be cool and afternoons hot with little shade over parts of the garden — bring sunscreen, water, and comfortable walking shoes for the full ten acres.

Visit the "Piece of the Park" tent. It sells small-scale maquettes of works from the garden's permanent collection — a good way to take home something authentic if a full-size piece is out of budget.
Good to Know

Rules and logistics

No pets

Pets aren't allowed on the show grounds (service animals excepted) — leave them at home or with someone back at the hotel.

It's a juried show and sale

Unlike the free, permanent collection in the rest of the garden, the pieces on display during the show weekend are for sale directly from participating artists — expect price tags next to the work.

Not Visiting in August?

The garden itself is free, year-round

Benson Sculpture Garden's 188 permanent sculptures are open to the public at no charge essentially all year — only a small section closes for the show's setup and takedown each August. If your trip doesn't line up with the show dates, you're not missing much of the permanent collection.
